An ITN film crew has just spent three days filming the Ffestiniog Railway for
a one hour documentary filmed in HD to be shown on the National Geographic
Channel in the spring. The show, fronted by TV personality Dan Cruickshank,
looked at the role the railway has played in pioneering new technology over the
years.
Special shots laid on for the crew included a gravity slate run from Rhiw
Goch with Prince providing the motive power, a detailed explanation of the power
bogie concept using Merddin Emrys as the model and a ride up to Blaenau on
a ballast train.
The show's director was extremely pleased with the results obtained, and we
will keep you informed when we have details of when the show is to be
broadcast.
